Egypt protests: Masses demand reform in Tahrir Square

Thousands of Egyptians have returned to Cairo’s Tahrir Square to mark one month since the start of their uprising which toppled President Hosni Mubarak.

The protesters are enjoying a peaceful, carnival atmosphere, but they want to keep pressure on Egypt’s new military rulers to make reforms.

They called for the emergency law to be repealed and political prisoners freed.

Tripoli protesters ‘under fire’

Anti-government protesters in Tripoli have come under heavy gunfire, latest reports from the Libyan capital say.

Protests in the city resumed as protesters seeking the overthrow of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi emerged from mosques following Friday prayers.

There has been a heavy security presence around the city’s mosques in recent days.

Libyan TV says medical sources in Tripoli are denying reports that three people have been killed.

واصلت ثورة 25 يناير فاعليتها في قلب ميدان التحرير وصعّد الثوار من مطالبهم في جمعة “التطهير والخلاص”، وطالبوا بـ”محاكمة الرئيس المخلوع وأبنائه”، داعيين إلى إقالة جميع المحافظين المتواجدين في السلطة وحل جهاز أمن الدولة ومحاسبة صفوت الشريف وزكريا عزمي وفتحي سرور وباقي رموز النظام البائد..

11 killed as Iraqis protest in ‘Day of Rage’

– Iraqi officials say at least 11 people have been killed and dozens injured in a day of violent clashes across the country between security forces and demonstrators.

At least nine demonstrators were killed in separate clashes in three northern Iraqi cities during what was described as a “Day of Rage.” In the western Anbar province at least two people were killed as security forces and demonstrators battled.

Thousands of Iraqis took to the streets Friday to vent their anger at government corruption, a lack of services and unemployment in the largest outpouring of anger since the protests began sweeping the Middle East.

Al-Qaeda ‘military leader’ Abu Suleiman killed in Iraq

Iraqi security forces say they have killed the man considered to be the military leader of al-Qaeda in the country.

Al-Nasser Lideen Allah Abu Suleiman, also known as Noman Salman, was a leader of the Islamic State of Iraq (ISI), a branch of al-Qaeda.

He is believed to have been the group’s “war minister” since two of its other senior leaders were killed last year.

Middle East protests: Jordan sees biggest reform rally

Some 6,000 Jordanians have taken to the streets of Amman, in the biggest pro-democracy rally in eight weeks of protest.

Fearing a repeat of last Friday’s violent clashes, more than 3,000 police were deployed in the city centre for this week’s so-called day of anger.

Inspired by Tunisia and Egypt, demonstrators want greater political say and economic change at home.

Some are also voicing support for their Libyan brethren.

IAEA says gets info on possible Iran military work

The U.N. nuclear watchdog has received new information regarding allegations of possible military aspects to Iran’s disputed nuclear program, the agency said in a report.

The confidential report, obtained by Reuters on Friday, listed several areas of concerns the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has about Iran’s atomic activities and called on Tehran to cooperate in substance with its probe.

No power, no shower as NZ quake toll rises to 113

The neighborhood’s toilet is a portable one out on Keller Street. The water supply is cut, making showers and clean laundry distant dreams. Resident stay fresh with bottles of hand sanitizer, and they’re running low.

“Don’t stand too close to anyone,” Judy Prime said with a chuckle as she took a break from shoveling huge piles of wet sludge out of her garage in the shattered Christchurch suburb of Avonside.

قرر النائب العام منع كل من حسن حمدى رئيس النادى الاهلى ومدير وكاله الاهلاام للاعلان ونائبه محمود الخطيب من السفر ووطالبهما بعدم التصرف في ممتلكاتهما الا بعد الرجوع للاجهزة المعنية بذلك .
