US General David Petraeus is to take control of US military operations throughout the Middle East and much of Asia as head of US Central Command.
His responsibilities include Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran.
A change-of-command ceremony will be held at Central Command headquarters in Florida later.

أعلن الجيش اللبناني أن سوريا تقوم بنشر قوات جديدة على طول حدودها الشرقية مع لبنان في محاولة لوقف التهريب عبر هذه الحدود.
