Israel minister warns Palestinians of “holocaust”

Deputy Israeli Defence Minister Matan Vilnai said on Friday the Palestinians would bring on themselves what he called a “bigger holocaust” by stepping up rocket attacks on Israel from the Gaza Strip.

“Holocaust” is a term rarely used in Israel outside discussions of the Nazi genocide during World War Two. Many Israelis are loathe to countenance using the word to describe other contemporary events.

استشهاد فتاة مصرية برصاص اسرائيلي علي الحدود

توفيت فتاة مصرية برصاص قوات اسرائيلية علي الحدود المصرية إثر اطلاق نار من الجانب الإسرائيلي.

وذكر مراسل مصراوي أن الفتاة وتدعي سماح نايف مسلم -14 عاما- أصابتها رصاصة طائشة للقوات الاسرائيلية أثناء تواجد الفتاة في مدينة كرم أبو مصلح المواجهة لكرم أبو سالم الفلسطينية علي الحدود مع مصر.

Turkish troops pull out of Iraq

Turkey says its troops have been withdrawn from northern Iraq after an offensive against Kurdish PKK rebels.
In a statement on its website, Turkey’s military said it had achieved its goals, and there was no question of any foreign influence on the decision.

AP news agency reports that at least 200 trucks carrying Turkish troops have left the Iraqi border area.

Iraq approves execution of ‘Chemical Ali’

Iraq’s presidency has endorsed the execution for genocide of Ali Hassan al-Majid, Saddam Hussein’s enforcer known to the world as “Chemical Ali,” for ordering gas attacks on Kurds in the 1980s, Iraqi and US officials said on Friday.

“The presidency has approved Chemical Ali’s execution,” a top Iraqi official told AFP on condition of anonymity. “The approval was given two days ago.”

Majid, Saddam’s cousin and defence minister, was sentenced to death for genocide in June 2007 along with Sultan Hashim al-Tai, another defence minister, and Hussein Rashid al-Tikriti, armed forces deputy chief of operations

Hezbollah says US ship is threat

A Hezbollah MP has condemned the deployment of the USS Cole warship off the coast of Lebanon as a threat to Lebanese sovereignty and independence.
The US is sending one warship and a support ship to the eastern Mediterranean as a show of support for “regional stability”.

The deployment is seen as a warning to Syria, which backs the opposition, of which Hezbollah is part.

Rice to stop in Egypt on Mideast tour

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will stop off in Egypt next week during her latest tour of the Middle East, the foreign ministry said on Friday.

She will hold talks on Tuesday with President Hosni Mubarak, Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit and intelligence chief Omar Suleiman on the status of Middle East peace talks and the situation in Gaza, spokesman Hossam Zaki told reporters .

Harry withdrawn from Afghanistan

Prince Harry is to be withdrawn from Afghanistan after news of his secret deployment leaked out.
The 23-year-old royal, who has spent the last 10 weeks serving in Helmand Province, is to be flown back to the UK amid concerns for his safety.

The move follows the collapse of a news blackout deal over his tour of duty, which was broken by foreign media.

There had been fears the prince, who is third in line to the throne, could become a target for the Taleban.

Egypt men say ‘I don’t’ to woman marriage registrar

The appointment this week of Egypt’s first woman able to conduct Muslim marriages has sparked controversy in the religious country, particularly from men who see their status being challenged.

Amal Soliman, 32, is the first woman in the Middle East and possibly the Muslim world to be authorised to perform wedding ceremonies and sign marriage and divorce contracts.

Student starved during Egypt stay

Jonathan McCullum was in perfect health at 155 pounds when he left last summer to spend the school year as an exchange student in Egypt.

But when he returned home to Maine just four months later, the 5-foot-9 teenager weighed a mere 97 pounds and was so weak that he struggled to carry his baggage or climb a flight of stairs. Doctors said he was at risk for a heart attack.

الحضري: سأعود إلي الأهلي…ونادم علي ما فعلت

صرح حارس النادي الأهلي عصام الحضري بأنه سيعود إلي ناديه يوم الجمعة معترفا بغلطته في حقه بسبب سفره إلي سويسرا للانتقال إلي نادي سيون بدون موافقته مشيرا إلي انه نادم علي ما فعله.

وقال الحضري في تصريحات لقناة “مودرن سبورت” “اعتذر للنادي الأهلي وجماهيره علي ما فعلت في حقهما..وسأتقبل أي قرار يأخذه النادي تجاهي”.
