اعلنت الولايات المتحدة الامريكية أمس انها ستقاطع الحكومة الفلسطينية الجديدة التي شكلتها حركة المقاومة الاسلامية حماس واعربت عن تقبلها امكانية قيام اسرائيل باتخاذ خطوات احادية الجانب لترسيم حدودها النهائية بحلول عام 2010م.
قال الرئيس الأمريكي جورج بوش إنه لن يدعم حكومة فلسطينية تقودها حماس ووصف هذه الحكومة بانها ترمي إلي تدمير اسرائيل. معتبراً أن المساعدات التي تقدمها بلاده ستذهب الي الفلسطينيين وليس للحكومة.
وقال بوش الذي كان يتحدث بعد ساعات من اداء الحكومة الفلسطينية بقيادة حماس اليمين الدستورية ان هدف واشنطن هو وجود دولتين تعيشان جنباً الي جنب في سلام فاذا اعلنت حكومة منتخبة عن رغبتها تدمير أحد الطرفين فلا يكون هناك مسوغ لدعم هذه الحكومة.

جدد الرئيس السوداني عمر البشير أمس رفض بلاده لنشر قوات دولية في اقليم دارفور بدلا من القوات الافريقية معتبراً الضغوط الأمريكية في هذا الاتجاه جزءاً من خطط واشنطن لاستهداف السوداني.
اشار البشير إلي ان الإدارة الأمريكية تسعي لمعاقبة السودان بسبب معارضتها لعدد من مواقف واشنطن السياسية في المنطقة خاصة حرب العراق وان واشنطن تتخذ من أزمة دارفور غطاء للسيطرة علي البترول السوداني.
في الوقت نفسه كشفت مصادر سودانية عن عملية اختراق خطيرة تقوم بها المخابرات الأمريكية في ولايات دارفور بهدف زعزعة استقرار الاقليم وتهيئة المناخ لعمليات مخابراتية وعسكرية واسعة تمهد لقدوم القوات الدولية إلي المنطقة.
أشارت المصادر إلي ان عملاء من المخابرات الأمريكية تم نشرهم في الاقليم تحت غطاء العمل الإنساني لدراسة جغرافية المنطقة ودراسة سلوكيات القبائل بهدف اشعال الفتنة بينهم.
من ناحية أخري بدأت وساطة الاتحاد الافريقي التحضير لمؤتمر الحوار بين ابناء دارفور المقرر عقده بعد التوصل لاتفاق سلام نهائي خلال مفاوضات ابوجا.

The UN Security Council gave Iran 30 days to stop uranium enrichment and allow more extensive inspections, IrelandOn-line reported.

Germany is meeting with key UN members - the U.S., Britain, France, Russia and China - in Berlin today to discuss what to do if Tehran doesn’t comply with their latest demands.

The 15-member Council unanimously approved a non-binding statement on Wednesday that calls on Iran to stop uranium enrichment and ratify the International Atomic Energy Agency’s additional protocol, which allows unannounced inspections. The UN statement also demands the IAEA to report on Tehran’s compliance in 30 days. The approved UN statement was the third version of a draft drawn up by France and the Britain, who made significant changes to win approval from Russia and China.

American journalist Jill Carroll has been released by her captors on Thursday, nearly three months after she was kidnapped in Baghdad, BBC reported.

Carroll, 28, is a freelance reporter for the Christian Science Monitor newspaper. She was abducted by unidentified gunmen in Baghdad’s western Adel district on January 7. Her driver escaped the captors, but her interpreter was killed.

Iraqi police say Carroll has been dropped off at the offices of the Iraqi Islamic Party in western Baghdad, and was said to be in good health.

In an interview with an Iraqi TV channel, Carroll said that she had been treated well by his kidnappers and was looking forward to return to her family.

The U.S. Secretary of State expressed Washington’s openness to support Israel’s plans to determine its borders unilaterally, BBC reported.
Although Condoleezza Rice said the U.S. prefers a negotiated deal with the Palestinians, she said such a move seemed unlikely after Hamas won the Palestinian legislative elections. Rice said American officials didn’t have the chance to discuss the border plans with Olmert but her comments clearly contradicted previous U.S. warnings that Israel shouldn’t act alone in determining its borders.

International mediators have told the new Hamas-led Palestinian government that it must recognise Israel if it wants to be guaranteed continued aid.
The Quartet of the US, the EU, Russia and the UN said aid would “inevitably” be affected as long as Hamas failed to renounce violence.

Hamas won elections in January, and its new cabinet was sworn in on Wednesday.

After the ceremony, Canada became the first country to freeze funding and end contact with the administration.

- Russia denied on Thursday a Pentagon report that a Russian diplomat gave intelligence on U.S. military moves to Baghdad during the Iraq War and said the report was intended to distract attention from problems in Iraq.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin said in a statement that Moscow had looked into the assertions but that they were wrong.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice had asked Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov to look into the report which said that Russia’s ambassador in Baghdad had given intelligence on U.S. plans and military movements to the Iraqi government shortly after the 2003 invasion.

اكد لاعب كرة القدم الانجليزي مايكل أوين انه سيكون لائقا للمشاركة في كاس العالم في الصيف القادم، مهدئا المخاوف من احتمال حدوث انتكاسة جراء عظمة مكسورة في القدم.

وكان لزاما على نجم نيوكاسل وانجلترا، والذي لم يلعب منذ 31 ديسمبر الماضي، إجراء جراحة ثانية الجمعة.

وقال أوين للتايمز “إنه جزء صغير في القدم الذي تطلب الجراحة الاضافية التي أجريت الجمعة وأتوقع اللعب خلال 4 اسابيع”.

وكان أوين قد أصيب خلال مباراة مع توتنهام ويؤمل في عودته للعلب ضد ميدلسباراه في 9 ابريل نيسان المقبل.

Finally, after months of denial and secrecy, prominent Syrian singer Asalah Nasri has tied the knot with Egyptian director Tareq Al Arian in Cairo. The couple held a private ceremony amidst an intimate group of close friends and family members. Earlier last week Tareq welcomed Asalah at the airport upon her return from Dubai where she maintains a residence, in addition to her home in Egypt. The main purpose of her trip to Egypt was to finalize her marriage to Al Arian.
